NATSIEHC23 was led by the National Experts Group for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Eye Health (NEGATSIEH), supported by Indigenous Eye Health at the University of Melbourne. The conference continued the important work of centring First Nations voice and leadership in national eye health.

Significance
Gatherings of First Nations delegates at NATSIEHC22 and NATSIEHC23 contributed directly to the formation of the First Nations Eye Health Alliance (FNEHA), which became the formal host of the conference from 2024.
