NATSIEHC24 was the first conference formally hosted by the First Nations Eye Health Alliance (FNEHA), supported by Indigenous Eye Health at the University of Melbourne. This marked an important transition of the conference into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisational leadership.

Historical significance
FNEHA grew from gatherings and workshops of First Nations delegates at the 2022 and 2023 conferences. NATSIEHC24 was the first conference formally hosted by FNEHA, marking an important transition of the conference into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisational leadership.
