In 2026, the First Nations Eye Health Alliance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation (FNEHA) is proud to convene the conference on Naarm, on the lands of the Wurundjeri people, at the MCG. This year’s theme, Seeing Our Way: Innovation, Excellence and Healing, acknowledges our past, strengthens our present, and calls in a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people lead the work that shapes their health outcomes and collective wellbeing.
As we come together, delegates will be empowered, informed, and inspired, sharing experiences and key learnings that provide guidance and support to improve eye health outcomes in communities and end avoidable vision loss and blindness for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
FNEHA is Australia’s first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander eye care peak body. A registered charity, FNEHA utilises traditional and contemporary knowledge and pathways to develop equitable health approaches that stop preventable vision loss and blindness in First Nations people.
Held annually since 2017, the Conference shifted in 2021 to all-First Nations leadership and in 2024 was co-hosted for the first time by FNEHA. From 2025 onwards, the Conference is fully convened by FNEHA, showcasing First Nations leadership, vision, and expertise in eye health.
