OUR VISION IN OUR HANDS
OUR VISION IN OUR HANDS
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands and waterways on which we work, live and play across Australia. We acknowledge and pay respect to our Elders past, present and emerging. As the holders of cultural knowledge our Elders guide our communities to healing and wholeness.
The First Nations Eye Health Alliance proudly support in full the Uluru Statement from the Heart - Voice, Treaty and Truth. As an alliance built by First Nations people, for First Nations people, we endorse the strengthening structures of self-determination where the voices of our communities can drive the betterment of our health and wellbeing.
As a strong and self determined people, we aim to improve eye health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities by driving sustainable operational and systems changes that will improve our health and wellbeing.
We are a multidisciplinary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander collaborative made up of members working in communities at a local, state and national level. This collective knowledge and experience contributes to building equitable changes to eye health care nationally for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
A key focus of our work is to strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce by providing professional support, networking, capability building and opportunities to attend the annual National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Eye Health Conference. In providing this support we believe it will strengthen health outcomes in communities for future generations.
